Next Steps: Getting Baptized
Why should You get baptized?
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It is a symbol of your identification with his death and resurrection, and your commitment to follow him as your Lord and Savior. Baptism is not a requirement for salvation, but it is an act of obedience and a sign of belonging to God’s family.
If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, then you are ready to be baptized. Baptism does not make you a Christian; it shows that you already are one. Baptism does not wash away your sins; only the blood of Jesus can do that. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change.
Some people may wonder when is the best time to be baptized. The answer is: as soon as possible! There is no need to wait for a special occasion or a perfect moment. If you have trusted in Jesus, then you can be baptized anytime and anywhere. The Bible shows us examples of people who were baptized immediately after they believed in Jesus (Acts 2:41; 8:36-38; 16:31-33).
Baptism is a joyful celebration of your new life in Christ. It is also a powerful testimony to others of what God has done in your life. By being baptized, you are telling the world that you belong to Jesus and that you are not ashamed of him (Romans 10:9-10). You are also joining with other believers who have been baptized before you, and who share the same faith and hope in Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13).
If you have not been baptized yet, I encourage you to take this step of faith today. It will be one of the most memorable and meaningful experiences of your Christian journey. If you have any questions or concerns about baptism, please feel free to contact me or any other leader in our church. We would love to help you prepare for this important decision.
God bless you!
